Did we hire these people and if so why? Did the HR rep/hiring manager find these hires to be successful hires?
I went to lunch today, despite the heat because I had to go to Macy’s and well, I was hungry. First let me say, I love Macy’s – unnaturally kind of love. Macy’s is my #1 favorite store.

I headed straight for the Clinique counter, via the handbag section, INC and Style and Co sections. The three ladies covering the
Clinique counter on Monday at noon didn’t have enough
to do as they were sitting around talking about their own complexions. I found what I needed and did the subtle “ahem” to get someone’s attention. The woman approaches me with disdain, how dare I interrupt her conversation about pores and wrinkles. She looks me up and down like I’m some bum in off the street and she’s the freaking Queen of England. Now I’m not a beauty queen or anything but I was dressed for business and I did brush my hair. I paid for my product (soap) and headed down to the undergarments area not at all pleased with
Macy’s, more on that later.
After leaving Macy’s I went to Chick-fil-a (CFA). CFA usually has the best service and best food if you are going for fast food, thus they are always covered up. This store had a young guy, let call him Steve, directing traffic in the parking lot. Steve had the worst attitude of anyone I’ve seen. He was giving drivers ugly looks, waving vigorously at drivers who dared to
take more than 2 seconds to follow directions and even did the same with a pedestrian. Steve kept giving me the hand signal to stay where I was even though I obviously couldn’t move. So, I left when I got the impatient go ahead. What followed wasn’t much better. I went to Wendys for a chicken sandwich. Line was moving, the speaker box spoke as I expected but when I got to the window, the speaker box only said “$6.59”; that’s it, no have a nice day, would you like some ketchup, thanks for stopping by Wendy’s….nada.
I understand people have bad days, I have them myself but when you work in customer service you need to put it aside. Two business locations lost my business today because of the actions of two employees. The undergarment section of Macy’s however, has my business for life. The associate working that position was wonderful. She should have had a bad attitude, dealing with women’s boobs all day I’d have a bad attitude, but she didn’t. She was happy to offer assistance, happy to help me find the style I was looking for and happy to help me purchase said product; and she didn’t push the Macy’s card on me when I said no thanks.
The lingerie associate, her I would hire and be proud of it. The hiring manager/HR rep that hired the others two should be ashamed.

I’m horrified by the CFA problem! The snooty ladies at Macy’s don’t surprise me, but anything less than amazing service at CFA is astounding. Maybe you and Stephanie made the wrong person angry.
You know where they have great customer service? The State-confrolled licquor/wine stores in Maryland! They are friendly, jovial, and–because of age-related purchase, they ALWAYS make eye contact!
@Ben Macy’s usually has excellent service as well, it’s part of why I still shop there. The guy at CFA just ticked me off, maybe the heat was getting to him or something.
@Krista HAHA! good point, the package stores are always on top of their customers.
