Food Network, a secret indulgence of mine, has a new show on called Worst Cooks in America. The premise is 12 average, kitchen challenged people learn how to cook with the guidance of two Food Network chefs.
The show is competition based with elimination rounds and it comes down to two contestants cooking for a nice monetary prize.
The relation to HR? I want to see a reality show or a local SHRM Chapter, take some of the worst HR or Managerial people and school them. If chefs can do it, why can’t we?
Let’s take that manager from Undercover Boss that told the employee she had to clock back in on the minute and school him/her on FLSA.
Let’s take those HR people that buy “Perfect Phrases for Performance Reviews” and teach them a better way.
Teach them better questions to ask in interviews, how to document employee relation issues, how to utilize social media to brand their company, how to take an ok employee and turn them into a super star.
Ok, so maybe it would last longer than 12 episodes but I’m betting the companies that send managers or HR people would be better off for it.

OOOOOO OOOOOO pick me! I have a nomination!
Toby Flenderson could be a special guest – a segment like “Who can be worse than Toby?”
Actually, he just needs s spine. Hey, maybe that could be a prize – a new spine for a worthy recipient!
Hilarious. I would totally be a guest judge.
There are so many great ideas for HR shows, but if we’re the only ones watching them…
@Lucentabella Your nomination would be the a colossal failure at any attempt to learn a new way.
@TimG Great idea! I’m sure we could get a Chiropractor to sponsor that
@Laurie You can be the shows version of Simon on American Idol.
@Ben Nah, we can promote them in the office, I’m thinking flyers and bill boards and commercials during the football game. Roll with Ben.
